Of course not! We're made of all kinds of flour—different flours, little flours, crusts, even grains—from bags, sacks, and pouches of all shapes and sizes. There are many of us, and that’s never been as good as it is now. Being different—and accepting that in that difference we are stronger, more effective, more creative, and even, why not, happier. We’re happy folks, but we’re all gajos.
Gajo is a word rooted in Romani culture. A gajo is someone who comes from outside our group, our tribe, our village. It may sound pejorative, but it’s not. We all belong to a group, a tribe, a village. Norms aside, our “normal” is always normal to us—and strange to everyone else.
In fact, gachó was how nomadic Roma used to refer to those outsiders who always stayed in one place. Yuck! They’re sedentary...”
